Need a small picture at a larger size? Enlarge it up to 4x. High-quality resampling and sharpening keep the edges looking clean.
How to use the Upscale Image
- Upload your image.
- Choose 2x, 3x or 4x.
- Download the bigger image.
What to expect
Up to 4x
Width and height both grow by your chosen amount, up to 64 megapixels in total.
Smooth and sharp
Lanczos resampling avoids blocky edges, and light sharpening keeps it crisp.
Not AI
This tool doesn't invent new detail, so very small photos will still look soft.
Getting the best result
- Start from the largest copy of the image you have.
- Run Enhance Image first if the photo is noisy.
- Use Compress Image afterwards, as bigger pictures make bigger files.
What upscaling can and can't do
| Goal | Will it help? |
|---|---|
| Meet a minimum pixel size on a form or website | Yes |
| Make a small logo or graphic bigger | Yes, with soft edges at 4x |
| Print a small photo larger | Somewhat. It'll be smooth rather than truly sharp |
| Read a blurry number plate or tiny text | No. Missing detail can't be recovered |
Choosing a size
Choose the smallest size that does the job, as a 2x image has four times as many pixels and a 4x image has sixteen times as many. A 1000 by 1000 photo at 4x becomes 4000 by 4000. The limit is 64 megapixels. Afterwards, Compress Image can bring the file size back down.
Frequently asked questions
How do I make a picture bigger without losing quality?
Upload it and choose a size. It stays smooth, though no tool can add true detail that wasn't in the photo.
Is this AI upscaling?
No. It uses classic resampling and sharpening, so it won't make up details or change faces.
What sizes are supported?
2x, 3x and 4x, as long as the result is under 64 megapixels.
Are my images kept?
Your files are only used for this job and are deleted from the server afterwards.
Does it keep transparency?
Yes. Transparent PNG images stay transparent.
