Instagram cuts off photos that don't match its shapes. This tool fits your whole picture onto the right canvas and fills the extra space, so heads, text and edges all stay in the frame.

How to use the Instagram No Crop Photo Fit

  1. Upload your photo.
  2. Choose post, story or DP.
  3. Download it and post it on Instagram.

What to expect

Set automatically

Upload any size and pick a shape. The middle of the photo keeps its shape, and the sides or top and bottom stretch to fill the frame.

Five sizes

Best-fit post, square post, portrait post, story or reel, and round profile DP.

No bars

The photo itself fills the frame, so there are no black, white or blurred bars.

Why Instagram crops your photos

Instagram fits posts into a limited range of shapes. A wide landscape photo or a very tall screenshot falls outside that range, so the app makes you crop it. Heads, group shots and text near the edges are often the first things to go. The fix is to place the whole picture on a canvas Instagram is happy with, and to fill the leftover space.

Sizes you can make

Instagram does change its layouts from time to time, so preview your post before you share it.

How the photo fills the frame

Keeping your quality high

Your picture is scaled to fit and never stretched or cut. The result is saved as a high-quality JPG, with a width between 1,080 and 1,440 pixels for posts. Instagram compresses every upload, so start with the sharpest original you have, and upload the file directly rather than sending it through a chat app first.

Photos for your profile

Profile pictures display as a small circle, which cuts off all four corners. The Profile DP option shrinks your photo enough that even its corners stay inside the circle. Read the full walkthrough in how to post a full photo on Instagram without cropping.

Other tools for your photos

iPhone photos in HEIC format are accepted directly, or you can make JPG copies with HEIC to JPG. If a flyer is stuck in a PDF, convert it with PDF to JPG and then fit it here. See more on the image tools page.

Building a consistent feed

Using the same size across your posts makes a profile look planned. Choose one option, such as a square post, and use it for a series. For carousels, process every picture with the same setting, as all of the slides need to match.

Frequently asked questions

How do I post a full picture on Instagram without cropping?

Upload it here, choose a post size and download the result. Your full photo is placed on a canvas that Instagram accepts.

What sizes does Instagram use?

Common shapes are 1:1 square, 4:5 portrait and 9:16 for stories and reels.

How do I fit my full photo in my profile picture?

Choose Profile DP. The photo is shrunk so its corners stay inside the circle.

Are my photos kept?

Your files are only used for the conversion and are deleted from the server afterwards.

Does this tool post to Instagram for me?

No. You download the image and post it yourself. It doesn't ask for your Instagram login.

Will Instagram still crop the image?

The image is made to fit Instagram's shapes, so you shouldn't need to crop it. The app's preview may trim the grid thumbnail, though.

Does it work for carousels?

Yes. Run each photo with the same size option so that they all match.

Can I use this on my phone?

Yes. It works in your mobile browser, with no app to install.
