When a page has fine text, charts or diagrams, PNG keeps the edges crisp because it doesn't lose quality when saved. Upload a PDF and get one PNG for each page.

What to expect

Lossless quality

PNG has no compression artifacts, so text and thin lines stay clean.

Good for design work

Use pages in slides, documents and design tools without the blur that JPG can add around text.

Bigger files

PNG files are larger than JPG. If size matters more, use PDF to JPG.

Why PNG suits document pages

Documents are full of sharp edges: letters, table lines and diagrams. JPG compression can leave a faint haze around those edges, while PNG is lossless, so every pixel is kept as rendered. That makes it the better format when your images will be zoomed in, edited or placed in another document.

Your download

Each page is rendered at 200 DPI. A one-page PDF downloads as a single PNG. Multi-page PDFs download as a ZIP with one PNG per page.

PNG file sizes

A page that is mostly white with black text compresses very well as a PNG. A page full of photographs doesn't, and can run to several megabytes. If file size matters more than perfect edges, use PDF to JPG. If you want to shrink a PNG for a website afterwards, PNG to WEBP can help, and PNG to JPG gives you a smaller file that works anywhere.

Backgrounds

Pages are saved with a solid background rather than transparency, so a white page stays white. This is what you want for documents, as text on a transparent background can vanish when it is viewed in dark mode.

Using page images in your work

Screenshot or converter?

A screenshot captures only what fits on your screen, at your screen's resolution. Converting renders the whole page at a set 200 DPI, so it is sharper and more consistent, particularly on a small laptop or phone. It also handles every page at once, which saves you from taking dozens of screenshots.

Frequently asked questions

How do I save a PDF page as a PNG?

Upload the PDF and press PNG. Each page becomes its own image.

Is PNG better than JPG for PDFs?

For text and diagrams, yes. For photo-heavy pages, JPG gives smaller files.

What resolution do I get?

Pages are rendered at 200 DPI.

Are my files kept?

Your files are only used for the conversion and are deleted from the server afterwards.

Do the PNGs have a transparent background?

No. Pages are saved with a solid background, which keeps text readable anywhere.

Why is my PNG so large?

Pages with photos don't compress well as lossless PNGs. Use PDF to JPG if you need smaller files.

How do multi-page PDFs download?

As a ZIP file with one PNG for each page.

Is 200 DPI enough for printing?

It suits everyday printing and is very clear on screen. Professional printing often asks for 300 DPI.
