What to expect

Great for handouts

Send slides to a class or client as one file that opens on any device.

Old and new formats

Both PPTX and older PPT presentations are accepted.

Static pages

A PDF has no animations or video, so each slide appears in its final state.

Why share slides as a PDF

A PowerPoint file can be large, and it can look different if the other person doesn't have your fonts. A PDF holds the layout in place, opens on any phone or computer, and doesn't need PowerPoint at all.

What changes when slides become a PDF

In PowerPointIn the PDF
Slide text and imagesKept on the page
Slide orderKept, with one page for each slide
Animations and transitionsRemoved, and each slide appears in its final state
Embedded video and audioWon't play
Speaker notesNot shown on the slides

Prepare your deck first

PPT and PPTX

Both the modern PPTX format and the older PPT format are accepted. If an older PPT gives you trouble, open it in PowerPoint, save it as PPTX and upload it again. The upload limit is 200 MB, which is plenty for most decks, though ones full of video can go over it.

Other tools for presentations

Need to go back to slides? PDF to PowerPoint places each PDF page on its own slide. For pictures of pages to post online, try PDF to JPG. And Word to PDF handles the report that goes with your talk.

Making a handout that works

Slides designed for a big screen often have a lot of pictures and few words, so they may not make sense on their own. Before you convert, consider adding a short summary slide, and spell out any key points you would normally say out loud. Add your contact details on the last slide. Give slides numbers so that people can refer to them in questions. If the deck will be printed, check that dark backgrounds won't use up too much ink.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert PowerPoint to PDF online?

Upload the presentation and press PDF. The file downloads when it is ready.

Do animations carry over?

No. PDF pages are static, so animations and embedded video won't play.

Can I do this on my phone?

Yes, it works in a mobile browser with no app to install.

Are my slides kept?

Your files are only used for the conversion and are deleted from the server afterwards.

Will my fonts look right?

Common fonts convert cleanly. Fonts the server doesn't have may be replaced, so check the result if you use a special one.

Are speaker notes included?

The PDF shows the slides themselves, so don't count on notes being included.

Can I convert several presentations at once?

Yes. Select several files and you get a ZIP with one PDF for each.

Does this work in Google Slides files?

Download your deck from Google Slides as a PPTX first, then upload that here.
